“Time” is a beautiful piece composed by Hans Zimmer for the movie Inception, which Andrew performed on his Senior Recital. Andrew recorded all of the parts of the orchestration using a MIDI keyboard and Virtual Instruments in Logic. He then mixed all of the parts together to bring the music to life.
In the performance, Andrew is playing the piano over top of his recording. Then, he plays part of the song on a Guitar Hero Controller! What Andrew did to accomplish this was he routed the controller through OSCulator, which is a program that detects various signals (in this case it is the bluetooth signal of a Wiimote) and then translates them into useful information such as MIDI notes. Andrew then used MAX MSP to make the MIDI Notes trigger a General MIDI guitar patch. Enjoy!
